Friday Funny: In a galaxy far, far away......

So the postings have been few and far between of late, thanks mainly to a hectic project schedule at work. I plan on using some upcoming free time to post a series of new articles Ive been working on born from a recent project. Heres a teaser - Binding Xpage Data Table to SQL (or other non-domino) data sources. Its amazes me how flexible Xpage can be the deeper I delve into them.

In th meantime, let me show  you a post i found today that has provided me (and the boys in the office) with some light relief. I'm probably waaaay behind the eight-ball here but Ascii art Star Wars is a winner in my book.

May the distraction be with with you.

Watch fully animated Star Wars in command prompt, just follow the simple steps:

  1. Press Windows Key + R to launch Run window (or Goto Start > Run).
  2. Type cmd and press enter.
  3. Type - telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl and press enter. (or Copy and Paste in command prompt)
  4. Enjoy !

  1. Kewl..Amazing what a couple of (really) bored guys can accomplish when inspired with text based output.

Just a tip for those of you who may (still) be afflicted with Windows Vista, telnet is not available by default. You need to "enable" it. I know.. I know...Why did they disable it ? Who the heck knows.. Probably the same clown in Microsoft who said the "Tags" column in windows explorer needs to be on by default for ALL you directories but it never actually does anything useful.. I hope they sacked the guy who invented the "Tags" column. But I digress (again)...

To enable Telnet in Vista you need to do this :
    1/ Open Control Panel
    2/ Select "Programs"
3/ Select "Turn Windows features on or off". Should be under the "Programs and Features", which is the first group displayed.
4/ locate telnet in the list, select it and click ok.
5/ Wait for it to be enabled.. and wait and wait... and wait..

If you use the control panel in "classic" view.

    1/ Open Control Panel
    2/ Select "Programs and Features"
3/ Select "Turn Programs on or off" (it should be on the left side navigation pane)
4/ Enable telnet in the list and wait.. and wait.. and wait..
